SMC x Superstudy

Overview: 

Superstudy is a Massachusetts-based technology startup offering personalized academic support to middle and high school students. They were looking to grow revenues by expanding their client base and drive revenue through new products, promotions, and new market entry. The project was led by Senior Project Director; Julia Turliuk, Project Director; Ariz Babul, and Consultants; Max Lanoue, Halle Goldstein, Leila Tenekjian, and Daniel Zaika.

Problem: 

Superstudy recognized that their product was well-positioned to gain market share in the tutoring industry and aligned with the interests of busy, driven students, but was unsure of how to scale their business. They wanted an evaluation of potential market entry options, a strategic approach to engaging new student groups, and enhanced brand visibility. 

Solution: 

SMC executed a four-pronged approach over two phases. First, the team analyzed student need data, referral behaviors, and studying preferences, leading to a recommendation to focus on private schools and athletic groups. Secondly, the team outlined an actionable partnership roadmap, identifying ideal partners, highlighting curriculum alignment, and defining KPIs for success. Third, SMC developed a mixed-incentive student referral program combining financial and non-financial incentives designed to drive immediate sign-ups and long-term engagement through a tiered reward structure, while focusing on authenticity. Ultimately, the team developed an SEO strategy centered on long-tail keyword targeting and content optimization to enhance Superstudy’s online presence.

Impact: 

This project positioned Superstudy to confidently pursue strategic partnerships with private schools across Massachusetts, with clear criteria and an implementation plan for pilot rollouts. The referral strategy provided a sustainable approach to student-led growth, while the SEO plan offered cost-effective opportunities to reach new users. Collectively, these deliverables enhanced Superstudy’s ability to scale efficiently, grow its brand credibility, and expand its customer base through validated, research-driven initiatives. Most importantly, this low-cost growth strategy enables Superstudy to continue to deliver value accessibly – the most important pillar of the Superstudy brand.
